Even though he was a tiny bit better on my last post, he got sicker afterwards. The diarrhea and vomiting continued to the point were we weren't even sure if we could get him back on the plane again. We barely slept that night due to him being sick and totally restless, poor little thing. The vet said to come back, it was just a 2 hour flight, so he thought he could manage.
As soon as we got back to L.A. we took him to the vet, after tons of blood work, ex rays and the full works they diagnosed him with Diabetic Ketoacidosis, his blood sugar was up to 400! He was hospitalized and put on antibiotics, insulin, IV and tons of other stuff. So from the Cushings, he developed Pancreatitis and from the pancreas not working it affected his blood sugar, or something to that effect. Everything is related, the cushings, the pancreas and the diabetes. He lost 2 pounds in just a week! So sad to him so sick!
Last night was our first night at home without our little one.
This morning I got to visit him and they even let me take him for a little walk. We spent almost an hour together. He looked better, he was wagging his tail and gave me tons of kisses, he got tons of kisses back.
Tonight Dan and I will go visit again. Can't wait!
PS~ It has been very sweet watching Dan getting up several times during three consecutive nights to take Princeton to the bathroom without any complaints, or be with him while sick. He happily would lay with him for hours giving him tons of love. He without a doubt would be such an amazing father. I hope one day he gets the chance.
